Bringing the ‘Colours of the Year’ into your home

For the first time ever, Pantone, recognised world authority on colour, have announced that two colours have been named as Colour of the Year 2016.

Rose Quartz and Serenity are the chosen colours; a symbolic colour pairing which they say offers a reflection of currently cultural trends and a visual representation of moods and attitudes. The merging of the two colours is said to demonstrate an inherent balance between the warmer Rose Quartz and the cooler Serenity, reflecting a cultural importance on wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.

The pastel pink and blue colours are incredibly soothing yet striking when merged together, and are easy and effective to bring into your home this year.

Paintings

Decorating your home with a few new paintings or artworks is a great way to bring a fresh touch to your home without having to change anything substantial. The calming pinks and blues will bring a pleasant atmosphere to your rooms, but without being overpowering.

If you aren't sure whether the colours will fit with your existing colour scheme, Pantone offer a colour match of colours they think will go together particularly well.

Flowers

For a low cost, easy way to bring the two colours to your home, simply splashing out on some coloured flowers is sure to be a stunningly effective display, wherever you choose to store them.

For the Rose Quartz and Serenity shades some pale pink asiatic lilies, pink spray roses, blue hydrangea, blue delphinium, misty blue limonium and blue lilac are just some suggestions of flowers that are remarkably similar to this year’s chosen colours.
