6 things to do in Kent this Christmas

This Christmas there are tons of exciting things around Kent to enjoy. All around the country, people are readying for the season and getting festive, and it is the perfect time to go out and enjoy some cheerful activities.

We have put together a list of some of the top events in Kent this December so that wherever and whoever you are, you can have a fantastic Christmas season.

1. Pantomime at Canterbury Marlowe Theatre

This year the Marlowe Theatre will be showing Dick Whittington, starring non-other than TV star Stephen Mulhern! A whole troop of incredible West End stars will also feature, including John Barr (Les Mise?rables), Lisa Davina Phillip (Matilda) and Ben Carruthers (Wicked).

The shows are always incredibly popular and are sure to be as hilariously entertaining as years previous, so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

2. Leeds Castle Christmas market

Christmas markets are always a lot of fun, and when they are overlooked by a beautiful castle, it couldn't be more magical. As well as a huge array of seasonal gifts, toys and decorations, there is also a number of stalls selling great food and drink and a few fairground rides and live music attractions to make it an even more special day out for everyone.

There are even more Christmas events going on at the castle this year alongside the market, so make sure you check their website for more details.

3. Tunbridge Wells ice skating

The ice rink in Calverley grounds will be open every day (except Christmas day) until the 2nd January. Strap on your skates and take to the rink in style. It doesn't matter if you suffer a few bumps and scrapes, that is to be expected - the fun and experience will more than makeup for it! Find out more here.

4. Dickensian Christmas at Rochester

On the 3rd and 4th of December Rochester will be swarming with Victorian characters, straight from a Dickens’ book. The weekend event is something very different and features everything from a candle-lit parade to street performers. There is something very magical about the atmosphere at the Dickensian Christmas Festival; it’s a festive delight that should be enjoyed by all..

5. Last minute shopping at Ashford Designer Outlet

Want to go Christmas shopping but don't want to bore the kids? Between the 3rd and 24th December, the Outlet Centre in Ashford has the perfect solution. Santa will be visiting the Centre, taking residence in his own log cabin.

The promise of visiting Santa and receiving a gift should be the perfect incentive to keep children behaving well whilst you shop for fantastic deals. No one wants to end up on the naughty list after all!

6.  Boxing Day dip in Folkestone

Feeling brave? You will have to be to join the hundreds of fancy dress-wearing masses which flock to Folkestone for a little Boxing Day dip in the ocean. The event has become somewhat of a tradition now, and more and more people travel to the seaside town each year to join in the madness.
