One Day Soft Furnishing Workshops

Here at Lukehurst we understand the importance of soft furnishings in a home, which is why we created our

bespoke curtains and soft furnishings service to help every customer get a truly unique look to help add the finishing touch to their dream space.

What better way to get a truly bespoke look than to embrace your DIY skills and make your own curtains or blinds for your home? Now, we know that this sounds a little daunting, which is why we’ve decided to run a series of workshops at our soft furnishings studio in Orchard Street, Rainham to teach you all of the tips and tricks for making your own window dressings.

The workshops will either specialise in curtains or Roman blinds, and will involve one of our ladies, Janie or Jill, taking participants through a step-by-step process of how to plan, measure and construct your own window coverings.

Learn how to make curtains

For the curtain workshops you will learn how to plan, measure and estimate fabric, and thanks to the tutor’s practical instruction you will make samples of lined and unlined curtains with a variety of different headings.

Learn how to make Roman blinds

With the Roman blind workshops you will learn about construction, measuring, hanging and

fabric design, giving you the tools to take home a sample Roman blind to use as a model for your own home.

Lunch and refreshments will be served at all sessions, giving you time to focus on perfecting your stitching and draping without having to worry about rumbling tummies. All participants should bring a basic sewing kit with needles, thread, pins and a tape measure, and feel free to bring your own sewing machine if you have one. All other materials necessary to get you started on your path to DIY-design heaven are provided.
