Pantone’s colour of the year 2017

Pantone have recently announced their newest colour of the year - Greenery. Following on from 2016, when two colours were chosen, Rose Quartz and Serenity, Pantone have selected the natural green as a way of symbolising new life and freshness.

After an extended period of political and societal imbalance in 2016, this decision by Pantone represents a bold move to move on and look towards the future anew. The hue is “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.

“Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

The natural colour lends itself to many combinations of colours, and the Pantone website demonstrates a number of potential palate choices for inspiration. Below are some ideas we have put together to bring ‘Greenery’ into your home.

Plants

Nothing says Greenery more than bringing real plants into your home. Even if you are not the most green-fingered homeowner, there is still plenty of scope for using small indoor plants to really bring a room to life.

Terrariums are another very popular creative way of making a personalised, exciting display in your home.

Soft furnishings

In most cases, sofas and chairs tend to be fairly simple colours by design. What better way to brighten them up than with some vibrant green pillows or a throw? Better yet, why not compliment the pillows with some luscious curtains - and breathe new life into your rooms.

Get vibrant with your furniture choice

Accessorise

These days you can find vibrant home accessories in every shape or colour. If you want to fill out your home with a touch of greenery, why not browse the market for a colourful kettle, or toaster, or coasters, or anything else you can think of? We often get used to the same colours and items in our house, so instead, use 2017 to start afresh and rejuvenate your home in whatever way you can.
